new year ride

January 10, 2010

Well, it wasn’t quite new year’s. The winter up til then was cold, but not doing anything else interesting enough to draw me outside during my period of circumsolstitial sloth until we finally got a bit of snow here in the city. So on Sunday the 3rd I ventured forth and rode out to the lighthouse at the enterance to Toronto Harbour.

country mud

November 26, 2009

I finally got my country road bike out on some real country roads, and picked up a bit of real country mud. Ride report to follow, eventually, maybe.

Beach ride

October 29, 2009

Last sunday at the cormorant beach (it used to be the heron beach before the pesky cormorants invaded it and killed all the trees). I don’t usually ride on sand on any bike I care about, but I reckoned it was OK just this once.

Tornado watch!

August 21, 2009

tornado watch

They said “tornado watch”, so I rode down to the beach to watch. I didn’t see any, but there was a tornado just outside town, about 20 crow miles away (and at least 3 others in Ontario)… and of course someone filmed it put it on youtube.

untitled filler post

May 10, 2009

All of a sudden it’s spring… the backdrop is the Historic Distillery District (historically a distillery, now a twee artsy district), the bike is my orange duct tape fake Rambouillet (more on which later, perhaps), and I’m on my way home from seeing some stuff at the Contact Photography Festival, which runs in galleries all over Toronto until the end of the month.

The camera mount is an Ultrapod II strapped to the seat tube.

I’ll show you in spring, it’s a treacherous thing

March 29, 2009

Pretty much all the snow was gone down by the lake, so I was surprised to find it was still winter north of Danforth Ave. Old vid… most of the ice is gone now.

The ride home

March 5, 2009

Yesterday I found a neato handlebar camera mount at Urbane Cyclist, that looks a bit more secure than strapping my mini tripod to the handlebars. I put it on outside the shop and made a time lapse movie of the rest of my ride home.

melt ride

February 27, 2009

melt ride

Of course it isn’t even March yet and there’s still time for another big snowstorm or two, but this week got downright springy. I dug the ‘cross bike (and the blog) out of winter hibernation and took the long way to the grocery store in the melty goo. The Cross-Check would have been a great snow bike and winter commuter, but I didn’t want to get it all salty… I may have to get another one to build up as a city bike.
